Landlady in Anambra pours hot water and pepper on tenant for not paying rent

Amaka Okonkwo, a woman, was detained after she is accused of dousing her tenant in hot water mixed with pepper in Anambra State over unpaid rent.

Imabong William, the victim from Akwaibom who is currently receiving medical care at a hospital in Nawfia, claims that her landlady asked her to leave the house because she was unable to pay the new rent increment and that her rent had already expired last month.

She said that while she was washing her clothes on Thursday, the aforementioned landlady poured her hot water mixed with pepper from behind, despite her request for more time to enable her to find a new place.

The incident occurred on Saturday, August 19, and in response, the state’s commissioner for women’s issues and social welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo, stated that Amaka Okonkwo had been apprehended and was being held at the Nimo police station.

When questioned about his wife’s actions, Mr.dot Ebere Okonkwo, the suspect’s husband, who was also present at the hospital, claimed that despite being present at the time of the incident and unaware of his wife’s evil intentions toward their tenant Imabong, he had no part in them.
