A magistrates’ court in Abeokuta, Ondo State, remanded Taiwo Ishola, 37, in custody for the murder of his younger brother’s two children.
According to igberetv, the suspect took the girls, Promise, 9, and Testimony, 7, and rode off on his motorcycle on August 5, 2023, from his brother Idowu Agbaje Ishola’s home in the Kemta Abata neighborhood of Abeokuta.
The kids were reported missing after their parents arrived home later in the evening.
The couple was informed by neighbors that they had seen the kids with the suspect.
When questioned, the suspect initially claimed he had dropped the kids off at the market and had no idea where they were, but later admitted killing the kids and claimed it was the devils’ doing.
Later, the suspect confessed to the police and took them to a bush where he killed the kids.
The suspect was charged with murder on one count by the police on Friday, August 18.

Oyewole requested a remand order for the defendant in his motion filed in accordance with Section 306 of the Ogun Administration of Criminal Justice Laws.
In the first instance, Oyewole requested that the defendant be held in custody for 60 days at the Oba Correctional Center pending guidance from the state’s director of public prosecution (DPP).
Ishola allegedly committed the crime on August, according to the attorney. 5:30 p.m. on the 5th. m. at Mile 6 of the Obafe Road in Abeokuta. Promise Ishola, 9, and Testimony Ishola, 7, the sons of his younger brother Idowu Ishola, he claimed were killed by the defendant.
Oyewole further claimed that the defendant killed the kids by using a matchete to sever their heads and other body parts.
When their parents weren’t home, the defendant went to the house of the younger brother and picked them up on a motorcycle, according to the defense attorney.
According to him, the parents of the deceased went looking for their children after discovering they were missing when they got home from work.
Then, a co-landlord in their neighborhood informed them that they had seen the children with Taiwo, who is his older brother.
When questioned, the defendant claimed he had not seen the kids, leading the co-landlord to declare him a suspect.
This led the father of the deceased children to call the police and report his brother.
The defendant confessed to killing his two nieces in the bush after being detained and during the course of the investigation.
The children’s remains were discovered by the police when they returned to the crime scene.
However, according to Oyewole, the crimes committed violate sections 316 and 319 of the Ogun County Criminal Code from 2006.
The defendant was ordered to be held at the Oba Correctional Center while the state DPP obtained legal counsel, per the Chief Magistrate’s order, Mrs. Esther Idowu.
She then put the case on hold until October 16 so it could be mentioned.
