An alleged ritualist was burned to death in Niger State.

In Lapai Town, the administrative center of Niger State’s Lapai Local Government Area, a vengeful mob has burned a man they believe to be a ritualist to death. They only know him as Sani.

According to Igberetv, the suspect was apprehended on Friday, August 18, at around 1pm, and was then set ablaze. He was reportedly seen with two young girls.

Abdullahi Yahaya, a witness, stated to the newspaper;.

In the past year, Lapai Town has received numerous reports of missing child cases. While some kids were later discovered to still be alive, others were ritually murdered. Residents believed that after capturing the suspects and turning them over to the security agencies, they would later reappear on the streets a short time later. That’s what sparked the rioting. ” .

The suspect is alleged to have stolen a child from close to the Lapai burial ground, according to DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the public relations officer for the Niger State Police Command, who confirmed the incident.

Abiodun stated;.

“Upon receiving the information, DPO Lapai mobilized and led a patrol team to the scene, but before the police arrived at the scene, an enraged mob armed with cutlasses and other weapons had beaten the suspect to a coma and set him on fire.

“Actions were taken to extinguish the fire and save him. He was sadly too badly burned to recognize, and his body was later taken to the General Hospital in Lapai. “.

The police spokesperson continued by saying that the state’s commissioner of police had already ordered an investigation into the incident with a view to making arrests and holding those responsible accountable.

The general public has also been urged to refrain from self-help and report crimes to the police so they can act right away.
