The decomposing body of Mr.dot Simon Peter Ngupila Ankau, a 74-year-old retired school principal who was kidnapped and buried in a shallow grave by kidnappers, has been found by members of the Benue Joint Security Team, Operation Zenda, led by CSP Justine Gberindyer

According to reports, Mr. Ankau was unable to cope with the trauma of the kidnapping and passed out while being held captive. He was buried in a shallow grave.
The kidnappers continued to demand a ransom from the family, and when the wife and son delivered the ransom to the kidnappers, they also held them hostage.

On Thursday, August 10, 2023, the men of Operation Zenda found the shallow grave in which Mr.dot Simon was interred in the border village of Gaya, between the local governments of Ukum and Katsina-Ala.
The body was given to the family, and security protection was offered for the subsequent interment of the remains at Chito Town in the state’s Ukum LGA.
The CSP, who is in charge of Operations Zenda. Asserting that there can never be room for any criminal or his activities in Benue state, Gberindyer reaffirmed the government’s commitment to zero tolerance for any form of criminality.
