Ohanaeze argues that it is unfair and unjust to appoint only five ministers from the South-East.

The nomination of only five ministers from the South-East region by President Bola Tinubu has been criticized as “unfair” and “unjust” by the leading Igbo sociopolitical organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo

For Senate confirmation, President Tinubu submitted 48 names, of which 45 have already been approved. There were 48 names submitted for confirmation, but only five of them came from the South East. Nkiru Onyejiocha (from Abia), Uju Ohaneye (from Anambra), Dave Umahi (from Ebonyi), Uche Nnaji (from Enugu), and Doris Uzoka (from Imo) are the five nominees from the South-East.

Ohanaeze demanded that more Igbos be nominated in the name of justice, fairness, and equity in a statement signed by its president general.

Remember that military administrations created the states and geopolitical regions. Sincere Nigerians are aware that the Igbo had little to do with this exercise. As a result, the South East only received five (5) states, while other zones received at least six (6). The South East is now in a very challenging situation on the political, economic, and social fronts.

We have fewer senators and representatives in the House of Representatives, as well as fewer governors, house of Assembly members, and local government officials. The South East is excluded from receiving federal revenue that is distributed based on states. We receive a strategic disservice in the distribution of resources and appointments to federal boards.

We would like to point out that this situation was not brought about by the current administration, but we nonetheless make a request of His Excellency, Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to assist us in finding a solution and reestablishing justice, equity, and fairness in Nigeria.

We ask the Almighty to bless and prosper our nation of Nigeria and to bestow upon our leaders the knowledge and wisdom necessary to guide the Nigerian nation toward peace, happiness, and prosperity for all Nigerians, regardless of racial origin, religious beliefs, or political inclinations. “, read the statement.
