Heavy gunshots were reported Wednesday night, August 8, 2023 around the Ikang waterways by suspected militants of the Black Marine, a group loyal to the Biafra movement, Igbere TV has learnt.
Residents say that 3:00 a.m. the militants were shooting sporadically advancing towards the Ikang jetty.
It was gathered that the Black Marine wants the military to end dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed on upland Bakassi in Cross River State.
The Biafra Nations League (BnL), a group with large influence in the Bakassi Peninsula, recently warned that refusal to end the curfew would result to more problem.
The group’s founder, Princewill Chimezie Richards, said on live broadcast via Sunrise Daily TV YouTube that his supporters might run out of patience if the curfew continues.
