Fuel subsidy removal: Jigawa govt rolls out palliatives

The Jigawa State Government said it has come up with palliative measures to cushion the citizen’s adversity due to the fuel subsidy removal.

State Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Sagir Musa Ahmed, disclosed this to newsmen on some of the outcomes of the state executive meeting on Wednesday night.

He said the state executive council had approved the purchase of five trucks of rice, an empowerment program for 1,500 young entrepreneurs, and support of 1,000 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

According to him, “the executive council has approved the purchase of additional five trucks of rice at the cost of N134,665,000.00 to complement the five trucks of rice sent to the state by the Federal Government.

“Council has also considered and approved another empowerment program for 1,500 young entrepreneurs running existing businesses across 27 LGAs in their respective communities.

“Also the state executive council has approved the support of 1,000 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) under the J-Cares Programme with N100,000.”

Ahmed said the government has set up a committee for the distribution of palliatives.

He assured that the state government is committed to reducing the citizens’ hardships
