Ministerial screening: Tinubu’s nominee Edun plans to split, separate OAGF

Olawale Edun, one of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ministerial nominees, said if confirmed as a minister, he would ensure the separation of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation from the Accountant-General of the Federal Government to boost the efficiency of governance.

Edun disclosed this on Tuesday during his screening at the Senate while responding to questions by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and senators.

Edun added that he would improve on the recent policies of President Tinubu towards the lasting growth of the Nigerian economy.

“If given the opportunity, I will do it; consistency was critical when I served as Commissioner at the sub-national level in Lagos. I did advocate that the Federation’s Office Accountant-General should be separated from the Federal Government’s Accountant-General. I would like to reiterate that position,” he stated.

Edun is the Special Adviser on Monetary Policies to President Tinubu.

He is among the 28 nominees undergoing screening at the Senate for ministerial positions
