Innocent remanded in Kirikiri for stealing 2.3M belonging to her employer

A 21-year-old lady identified as Goodness Innocent who serves as a sales representative of a food vendor, was on Wednesday, July 19, remanded in the Kirikiri custodial center for allegedly stealing N2.3m from her employer.

Innocent was dragged before the Ebutte-Metta Chief Magistrate court by the police on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. The police prosecutor, Inspector Cyriacus Osuji, had told the court that the defendant and others still at large conspired to commit the alleged offences. Osuji said Innocent stole a bank Automated Teller Machine card from her employer, Kehinde Odiye, and allegedly withdrew N2.3m on July 16, 2023, around 5pm, at No. 168, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State.

According to him, the offence committed contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

When the charges were read, the Magistrate, Olanike Olagbende, granted Innocent N1m bail with one surety and ordered that she be remanded in the Kirikiri Custodial Centre until the bail conditions are met.

 

She then adjourned the case till August 10, 2023.
