NYSC swears in 1,565 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 Corps members in Akwa Ibom

The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has sworn in a total of 1,565 corps members of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 in Akwa Ibom State.

The 1,565 Corps members are made up of 703 males and 862 females.

Administering the oath of allegiance on the Corps members, the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Ekaette Obot represented by Justice Gabriel Ette charged them to be law-abiding and not to engage in activities that would endanger their lives.

In her address, the NYSC State Coordinator, Chinyere Ekwe congratulated the Corps members for the successful swearing-in ceremony and intimated them on the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme of the NYSC saying that it was packaged to provide them with a veritable platform to overcome post service year challenges of unemployment even as she encouraged them to key into it and take the in-camp SAED training very seriously.

She also commended all heads of security organisations in the state and other collaborating agencies for their maximum support and synergy to the NYSC, adding that it has contributed to the successful implementation of their programmes.

According to her, “Your Excellency Sir, a total of 1,565 corps members made up of 703 males and 862 females have been registered. Sir, I am glad to inform you that these young Nigerians have quickly adjusted to the regimented life in the camp.

“Excellency Sir, we remain grateful for the unwavering interest of the State Government in the Scheme, of note is the regular provision of cash for corps members for their transportation fare, refreshments to corps members and camp officials during orientation and regular payment of corps allowances in the State during their national service.”

While attributing the desire by prospective corps members to serve in Akwa Ibom to a peaceful environment and welfare packages provided by the state government, Mrs Ekwe promised to continue to support all its policies and programmes
