VIOLENT PROTESTS IN KENYA: Gov't reads the riot act!

The Kenyan government has strongly condemned Wednesday’s nationwide protest called by the opposition coalition that left four people dead, several others injured, and properties worth millions of shillings, including the newly built super highway that connects the main airport to the Nairobi CBD, destroyed.

The Kenya Private Sector Alliance KEPSA) estimates that Kenya is losing an average of Ksh3 billion per day as a result of the ongoing anti-government protests.

KEPSA states that the protests are having a devastating impact on the economy, with businesses forced to close and employees may soon be laid off as a result of the financial losses.

Kithure Kindiki, the country’s minister of interior, said that some parts of Nairobi and a few other towns across the country witnessed widespread violence, looting, and destruction of private and public property.
