President Joe Biden pledged Wednesday that western allies “will not waver” in defense of Ukraine, casting the struggle against Russian aggression as one of the world’s central challenges.
President Joe Biden promised Ukraine that its allies would not back away from defending the country in a speech Wednesday following two days of high-stakes meetings with leaders at a NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Speaking before a crowd Wednesday evening, Biden vowed that “the defense of freedom is not the work of a day or a year. It’s the calling of our lifetime — of all time.”
“We will not waver,” Biden declared, adding, “We will stand for freedom today, tomorrow and for as long as it takes.”
