The leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi State has started reconciling its members who are allegedly aggrieved over the appointment of government officials in the state.
Recall that Governor Francis Nwifuru had appointed over 80 commissioners, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and others into his cabinet, but some party members felt aggrieved that their wards were sidelined in the appointments.
DAILY POST reports that the party had, through its appointment review committee, which had visited 11 local government areas, tasked stakeholders in the 171 political wards of the state to shun all forms of gossiping, grievances and feeling of being sidelined.
The chairman of the committee, Mr. Peter Nworie, who spoke at Ishielu Local Government Area while addressing stakeholders of the council, tasked them to remain calm and be supportive of the government, adding that the governor will make more appointments that would favour them.
According to him: “Our governor, Francis Nwifuru is a party man. He is the man of the people and believes in our aspirations. He believed that those who work should eat. And you know that those who do not work, don’t deserve to eat.
“If you work, you chop. And this is the slogan of the governor. He believed that those that didn’t work don’t have a place in his administration. And that is why at this point in time, decided to pause and to review all the appointments done so far.
“This will help him to know the areas that he will look into more. And what you submit will guide him to know the places that have not been included in appointments.”
Earlier in a remark, the chairman of Ishielu LGA, Mr. John Onwe, applauded Nwifuru for implementing his manifesto of the people’s charter of needs, the appointment of 80 aides, and ensuring that peace and unity exist among party members in the state.
Responding, the Deputy Chief Whip of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Mr. Chukwu Arinze Lukas, described the appointment review of the governor as a welcome development geared towards restoring unity and progress in APC in the state.
“The governor, Francis Nwifuru is a good leader and I know that he will adjust in the areas that people felt that the appointments so far done, didn’t favour their people”, he stated
