While Mmesoma Joy Ejikeme the 19 year old JAMB applicant from Aninri LGA of Enugu state forged her JAMB result and came out to boldly deny it despite the disclaimer from JAMB, Gov Peter Mbah of Enugu state also forged his NYSC certificate. The governor equally came out to deny the forgery despite disclaimer from the NYSC.
However, JAMB didn’t waste time to slam a 3 year ban on her and asked the police to prosecute her.
She has finally admitted that she forged the JAMB result unaided, but Peter Mbah is still lying and trying to use courts to silence NYSC from issuing further disclaimer.
Since JAMB has taken steps to stop Mmesoma from gaining admission into the university with a forged JAMB result, it is pertinent that the Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal do not allow Peter Mbah to benefit from forgery.
Yesterday, the NYSC senior official was at the Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal to testify against Mbah. The NYSC official told the tribunal that Mbah forged the NYSC certificate he filed to INEC.
Therefore, if Mbah is allowed or cleared to retain the governorship seat of Enugu state, it will be an end to NYSC programme as such would have set a bad precedent.
Young graduates would rather forge the NYSC certificate than enrolling in compulsory one year NYSC programme.
JAMB has set a signal that forgers of its results like Mmesoma will be fished out. The Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal should protect the NYSC programme.
That institution should not be rubbished on the alter of political sentiment.
Gov Peter Mbah should be sacked immediately.
