Waldrum names Oshoala, Ajibade, 21 others in Super Falcons’ squad for 2023 W’Cup

Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum has unveiled his final squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

Waldrum kept faith with the regulars in the squad, including captain Onome Ebi, Barcelona Femeni forward Asisat Oshoala and dainty attacking midfielder Rasheedat Ajibade.

Former Falconets defenders, Rofiat Imuran and Tosin Demehin, as well as midfielder Deborah Abiodun, were also included in the squad by the American.

There is also a place in the squad for Leicester City centre-back Ashleigh Plumptre, experienced forward Desire Oparanozie and Francisca Ordega.

The nine-time African champions are drawn in Group B with Australia, Canada and the Republic of Ireland.

The Falcons will face Canada in their opening fixture on July 21, with games against Australia and the Republic of Ireland to follow.

The West Africans made it to the Round of 16 four years ago in France, where they were eliminated by Germany.
