The Guinness World Records (GWR) is aware of Damilola Adeparusi’s attempt to break the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Alina Polianskaya, a public relations executive at the GWR, confirmed this to FIJ on Thursday.
The confirmation came after 26-year-old Adeparusi, also referred to as Chef Dammy, concluded a 120-hour cooking marathon in Ilupeju, a town in Ekiti State.
The GWR also debunked the claim that the chef’s effort was in vain as she did not apply before attempting to break a record. “We are aware of Chef Dammy’s cooking marathon,” the organisation stated. “It is possible to submit evidence after a record attempt has been completed.”
Polianskaya said there was no waiting time to break an existing record and added that it was possible for people to break their own records.
This means Chef Dammy can become the next record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual if GWR receives and ratifies all the evidence.
It also means she can still break the same record again if she wants to do so.
