Cross River Gov, Otu sends state’s Auditor General, Odey on compulsory retirement

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has directed that the Director of Administration, DA, to resume as the Head of the state audit department.

This follows the governor’s directive to the state Auditor-General, John Odey to proceed on retirement with immediate effect.

Odey was also ordered to hand over to the Director of Administration.

Over the weekend, the governor also sacked the Auditor General for Local Government in the state, Mrs Franca Inok.

Otu gave the directives through the chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Mr Oko Inaku.

“I have the directive of His Excellency, the Governor to request you to proceed on retirement with immediate effect.

“You are also directed to immediately hand over to the director of administration”. Okoh wrote in a letter sent to the Auditor General.

The statement further said the Director of Administration in the Audit Department would act as head of the place “until further notice.

On his second day in office, Otu ordered former political appointees of Governor Ben Ayade to vacate government buildings and hand over official vehicles.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the General Administration Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Innocent Eteng the governor also dissolved all governing boards of parastatals, commissions and agencies other than Statutory Boards.

He directed all Local Government Council chairmen upon expiration of their tenure to hand over to their respective Heads of Local Government Administration (HOLGAS) or Directors- General and Administration (DGSAS) of their Local Governments
