The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), has officially unveiled Senator Dino Melaye as its governorship candidate for the November 11th gubernatorial election in Kogi State.
Senator Melaye was unveiled on Wednesday by key party stakeholders in the State.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, the PDP governorship flagbearer appreciated the PDP family in Kogi State and begged for forgiveness from anyone he offended.
He said peace will be established in PDP, assuring that the party will do things differently when they get to power.
“Dino Melaye will not be a Christian or a Muslim Governor but a governor with the fear of God. If you have the fear of God, you won’t pay percentage salaries. If you have the fear of God, there will be peace and stability in the state”.
He promised to return power back to the Eastern Senatorial Districts after eight years in office.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the party, Sam Uhuotu appealed to indigenes to vote for his party during the governorship election in the state.
He charged electorates to forgive the party for any of their wrongdoings, adding that the party will wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC).
A former lawmaker representing Kogi West, Tunde Ogbeha appealed to aggrieved party members to sheath their swords and work for the party’s victory.
He thanked the people of Kogi East for respecting the principle of rotation, stressing that they have applied great wisdom in pursuing the electoral process.
Also speaking, former Kogi State Governor, Ibrahim Idris said he would forever remain a member of the PDP.
Idris tasked party stakeholders to unite against any forces who intend to stop their victory at the polls.
“I am here to support whoever emerges as our party Candidate. Dino Melaye is a PDP member, why will I go and support another party? That will be the last thing I will do. We can do it, but we have to see ourselves as one family” he stated
