Nnamdi Kanu Fumes From DSS Custody Over Supreme Court's Adjournment

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has reacted to the adjournment of his appeal in the supreme court on Thursday, saying the case should no longer be adjourned.

IgbereTV had reported that the Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of the appeal filed by the Federal government of Nigeria seeking to over-turn the court order for Kanu’s release.

The five-member panel led by Justice John Okoro in their ruling adjourned the matter to May 11 after hearing the motion filed by the counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, Mike Ozekhome.

Ozekhome had informed the court of his motions seeking for bail of his client (Kanu) and another seeking for his transfer to the Kuje Correctional Facility to get proper medical attention citing his failing health at the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

He also prayed for an accelerated hearing of the matter. Reacting, during a routine visit, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor quoted Kanu who is being held under DSS detention to have frowned at the news of the adjournment.

“I just exited from today’s visitation with #MNK. I informed him of the adjournment of his appeal by the Supreme Court & he was not happy about it. He believes (and I concur) that his case is over-ripe for hearing. He therefore insisted that the case must not be adjourned again,” Ejimakor tweeted.
