Adamu, APC Leaders Meet Tinubu, Push For Southeast Senate Presidency

If the signal coming from the meeting, Tuesday, between the All Progressives Congress APC leadership and the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is anything to go by, the Southeast region will occupy the seat of Senate President in the 10th Assembly.

The APC National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and other prominent party leaders, yesterday, met in closed door with the president-elect at his Abuja Residence.

The former Lagos State governor had returned to the country on Monday after about 33 Days in France in what his media team said was for rest after an exhausting presidential campaign and election season.

Sources in the meeting informed our correspondent that the Party and President-elect have agreed to zone the Senate President slot to Southeast or Southsouth but majority are pushing for Southeast in the interest of balance and national unity.

The Northwest is being favoured for the speakership slot.

At the moment, contestants for Senate President include Senator Barau Jibrin (Kano State, North-west); former governor of Zamfara State, Abdul Aziz Yari (Zamfara State, North-west); Senator Orji Uzo Kalu (Abia State, South-east); Senator Osita Izunanso (Imo State, South-east); Senator Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom State, South-south); and Senator Sani Musa (Niger State, North-central).
