Two women, toddler rescued after truck rammed into mosque in Niger

Three persons including a toddler were allegedly rescued after a trailer loaded with powdered milk rammed into a mosque in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State.
The accident occurred at 6 am on Tuesday after the early morning prayer.

It was learnt the truck ran into the mosque when many worshippers had already left after their prayers.

Witness accounts said the trailer hit the section of the mosque where women and children observed their prayers.

A resident of the area, Mallam Suleiman Kwamba, explained that three persons, two women and a baby, trapped in the ruins were saved and conveyed to the Suleja General Hospital for medical attention.

Another witness, Baba Mai Anguwa, told newsmen: “The accident occurred shortly after Subh (early morning prayer). Three persons, including a child, were taken to the hospital. We are lucky that people have left the mosque after the prayer. It would have been very disastrous because the mosque was filled during the prayers.”

It was further learnt that the trailer fell while trying to negotiate a narrow part of the road.
The truck subsequently blocked part of the ever-busy Biba Road close to the popular Babangida Market
