EPL: Todd Boehly to appoint ex-Chelsea manager as Potter’s permanent replacement after Lampard

Chelsea, under the leadership of Todd Boehly, are set to appoint the club’s former head coach Carlo Ancelotti as Graham Potter’s permanent replacement after Frank Lampard’s contract expires at the end of the season.

Boehly sacked Potter last Sunday and temporarily put Lampard as a caretaker manager until the end of the season.

However, the American has added Ancelotti, who is currently the head coach of Real Madrid, to the list of potential candidates to replace Potter permanently.

Ancelotti restored his reputation following a mediocre spell at Everton by masterminding Real Madrid’s unlikely Champions League triumph last season.

The 63-year-old has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid this summer.

According to ESPN, Ancelotti ticks many of the boxes Boehly and Chelsea are looking for in a new head coach. The Italian’s willingness to work alongside a technical director suits the model in place at Stamford Bridge.

Ancelotti spent two years at Chelsea between 2009 and 2011, during which time he won a Premier League and FA Cup double
