NNL: Imo Sports Commissioner charges Heartland FC to go for gold

Imo Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Emeka Okoronkwo, has charged players and management of Heartland Football Club, Owerri to bring home the Nigerian National League Trophy.

Okoronkwo made the charge in Owerri on Friday when he visited the team ahead of its match day four fixture with Edel FC of Awka, in Anambra, slated for Saturday, April 8.

He appreciated the players for being dogged and assured them of the state government’s support.

Okoronkwo further said that the state government had done its part by clearing all outstanding salaries and allowances of members of the team.

He advised them to remain focused and disciplined to achieve the set goal and to reciprocate the government’s gestures by returning Heartland FC to the top flight.

“Gov. Uzodimma is interested in the team because this team makes Imo people happy, that is why the welfare of the players is our top priority, hence the settlement of all outstanding payments.

” This season we have paid all match bonuses, even the one for Awka is here with us, as I speak all outstanding salaries have been cleared.

“ Government has done her part. Imo people expect you to reciprocate this gesture. You must go for gold “, he said.

In reaction, the team’s captain, Nnaemeka Anyanwu, appreciated the Commissioner for taking out time to visit the team and assured him that the team was totally dedicated to achieving the set goals and returning to the top flight.

The team’s General Manager, Mr Promise Nwachukwu also thanked the state government for its untiring efforts towards returning Heartland FC to the elite division.

He also appreciated Coach Christian Obi-led Technical Crew for their dedication and discipline and urged Imo people to support the team to victory
