Ex-Assembly speaker seeks increased FG presence in Taraba

The former Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Peter Abel Diah, has again stressed the need for the Federal Government to increase its presence in the state.

Making the call on Friday during an interactive session with journalists in Jalingo, the state capital, he lamented that despite the state’s contributions to the country’s development, the federal government has not deemed it fit to make its presence visible in the state.

He said the state, unlike others in the country, still grapples with bad roads. He said the Numan/Jalingo Road had become a deathtrap and was begging for attention.

Apart from the identified infrastructural deficit of the state, he also frowned at the alleged way and manner the state has been relegated to the background in the areas of federal government appointments.

He called on the governor-elect of the state, Kefas Agbu, to work extra legitimate miles to reconcile the people of the state, who, according to him, have been divided along tribal and religious lines
