Gov. Umahi Should Back Kalu to Avoid What Igbos Experienced During Obasanjo's Tenure - APC's Ojougboh

A chieftain of the APC, Cairo Ojougboh, has given his ‘unsolicited’ advice to the governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, regarding his bid for the Senate presidency. Cairo revealed in an interview with AIT News what happened to Igbos during Obasanjo’s tenure that prompted him to offer the advice.

Addressing the topic, Cairo said, “Governor Umahi and I were in the PDP. It is unsolicited advice, but I would advise Umahi to support Orji Uzor Kalu to prevent what happened during Obasanjo’s tenure. During Obasanjo’s government, the Igbos produced a senate president every year, and it was quite a challenging period for the South East. Now, if they have the fortune of having the Senate presidency, they should pick a charismatic leader.

He added, “Without being judgmental, Umahi and Kalu would have been two-term serving governors by the end of May. Although both of them are from the Southeast, Kalu has been the Senate chief whip and has the experience. Despite his opponents, Kalu is at ease with the majority of Nigeria’s leaders. I believe he can stabilize the Senate and manage the south-east so that Tinubu can have time to invest in the zone.
