A top lawmaker at the Imo State House of Assembly, Arthur Egwim, is dead.
The lawmaker died on Monday, days after he underwent surgery in Lagos.
Egwim, who was first elected into office in 2015 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, represents Ideato North Constituency at the state House of Assembly.
He joined the Action Congress, AC, in 2019 and was reelected in 2019 but failed to return to the House in 2023 as he ran on the All Progressives Grand Alliance platform.
Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, in a statement on Tuesday, described Egwim as one of the finest brains among the 27 lawmakers.
“With heavy heart, but with total submission to the will of God, we, the members of Imo State House of Assembly, wish to announce the death of one of our own, a ranking parliamentarian of note and a strong voice in IMHA, Rt. Hon Barr Innocent Arthur Egwim,” the statement said in part.
