Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has backed Victor Osimhen after the Napoli forward failed to score for the second consecutive game against Guinea-Bissau on Monday night.
Osimhen has been in scintillating form for Napoli this season both domestically and in Europe.
The 24-year-old however failed to replicate the form in the two fixtures against the Djurtus.
Osimhen missed a number of good scoring chances in both legs.
The former Wolfsburg striker was denied by the woodwork and goalkeeper Bruno Mendes on Monday night at the September 24 Stadium.
Peseiro claimed that Osimhen feels more pressure while playing for the Super Eagles than his club.
“Victor is the best striker in Europe, but it happens (not to score a goal),” Peseiro said during his interaction with the media after the game.
“He fights for the team, but he feels more pressure in national team than in Napoli, that’s not good.”
Osimhen is currently the highest goal scorer in the qualifiers with five goals
