Arsenal hero, Martin Keown, has identified William Saliba as the Gunners’ best defender ahead of Gabriel Magalhaes after the club’s Europa League 2-2 draw against Sporting CP on Thursday.
Keown claimed that Saliba is better than fellow defender Gabriel because he is very strong and composed.
Goals from Saliba, Goncalo Inacio, Paulinho and Hidemasa Morita (OG) ensured both Arsenal and Sporting drew in their Europa League round of 16 first-leg tie in Portugal.
“I think he’s growing in stature, just listening to him speak and the goal he scored tonight, his performance – he’s a proper central defender,” Keown told BT Sport.
“He and Gabriel make for a really good partnership, I think he is ahead of Gabriel. He’s doing everything you want, there is a hunger, taking responsibility as he wants to get into the next round.
“He is given everything for the cause. He’s very composed, strong. Again he’s got the ingredient of pace,” he added
