Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia has called on civil servants in the state to vote for candidates of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to sustain the development agenda of the present administration.
Ikpeazu made the call on Thursday during a town hall meeting, with Civil Servants in the state,which held at the International Conference Center, Umuahia.
The governor said that the state government under his watch had evolved several policies and programmes that we improved the welfare of workers in Abia.
Ikpeazu said: “On March 18, you must vote for continuity because, if you gamble with your future, you have also put your job on the line.
” I owe it to you as a duty to remind you of the consequence of your indiscretion as you elect the next governor of Abia.
“I have directed that between now and 7 days that the leave allowance of civil servants be paid.
” Even as I grant command promotion to everyone, its implementation will be easier , if you vote for the governorship candidate of PDP, Chief Okey Ahiwe.”
He expressed gratitude to God for the cordial relationship existing between the government and civil servants and commended them for their support.
Ikpeazu thanked civil servants for playing a pivotal role in the achievement of the infrastructural development recorded during his tenure as governor of Abia.
He urged civil servants to vote candidates with good track record of stewardship, and urged them not to give their mandate to individuals that would put their future in jeopardy.
Ikpeazu urged civil servants to vote for Ahiwe during the governorship and house of asembly elections, adding that Ahiwe would prioritise the welfare of workers, if elected.
In a remark, Ahiwe assured that the command promotion announced by the governor would be fully implemented, and added that issues concerning workers would be taken care of adequately.
He promised to serve the people of Abia diligently and evolve programmes that would boost human capital development and increase productivity in the state.
Responding, the State Head of Service, Mr Onyii Wamah , thanked the governor for his friendly disposition towards Abia workers.
Wamah said that civil servants in the state would support Ahiwe in upcoming elections.
