With the increasing demand by Abia state’s stakeholders of good conscience for the governorship position of the state to return to the Abia North Senatorial District in line with the state’s “Charter of Equity,” the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Abia North Chapter, has joined the suit in that regard by adopting and endorsing the governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu (KSJI).
This was disclosed to the media shortly after the leadership of the SDP comprising the L.G. Chairmen and Co-ordinators from the five Local Government Areas of Abia North had a closed-door meeting with the APP governorship candidate at the APP’s Secretariat in Umuahia, which was attended by Elder Mark Ugorji and Elder (Hon.) Princewill Ukaegbu, the DG of Mascot Uzor Kalu Campaign Council and APP’s State Chairman, respectively.
Speaking to MUK TV after the meeting, the leader of SPD in Abia North and Bende Local Government Chairman of the party, Mr. Friday Uko, described Chief Kalu as the most qualified and experienced candidate, who can reclaim what belongs to the zone, while urging the people of the senatorial district to, beyond party lines, overwhelmingly support him.
“As the people of Abia North, regardless of party differences, we cannot fold our hands and allow what belongs to us to be taken away.”
“We have carefully accessed all the candidates from Abia North, and Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu is the only one who has convinced us that he has what it takes to win the election.”
Mr. Ukoh also called for respect for the Abia Charter of Equity, noting that the rotational principle of the charter gives the three senatorial districts a sense of belonging.
