On the heels of his dismissal by the Court of Appeal yesterday, Mr Michael Enyong will this morning make a return to court for another round of legal gymnastics.
Michael Enyong had dashed to court to file a suit retraining the Inspector General of Police, the Nigeria Police, Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, and its agents, from arresting him over criminal allegations of forgery and impersonation leveled by the Peoples Democratic Party against him.
The Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Kayode Ogunleye is set to decide on the application made by the federal lawmaker today.
Mr Enyong had last week secured an injunction restraining the Police and its agents from arresting him.
After consideration of the Motion on Notice and accompanying Affidavit of Michael Enyong through his counsel Nyakno Etuk, the court on February 17, 2023 in suit number FCT/HC/CV/2320/2023 granted an order of interim injunction restraining all the Respondents by themselves, servants, agents, from further inviting, arresting, and detaining the Applicant or taking any further step in connection with their invitation to the Applicant, pending the hearing and determination of the Application to enforce his Fundamental Rights as contained in the Originating Motion.
With the vacation of the injunction expected today, Michael Enyong may be compelled to explain how he got the signature of the officials of the PDP in documents he used to secure judgment in a federal high court in Abuja.
