Former Tottenham and Liverpool man, Danny Murphy has admitted that he never expected Arsenal to stay top of the Premier League until this point.
He also named Martin Odegaard as the ‘irreplaceable’ player in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Arsenal went seven points in the Premier League table on Saturday after beating Brighton 4-2 and Manchester City dropping points against Everton at the Etihad on New Year’s Eve.
Murphy was particularly impressed by Odegaard’s performance and said the Norway international was the ‘one player’ Arsenal would struggle to replace.
“I do think Odegaard is the one player they would struggle to replace,’ Murphy said on BBC’s Match of the Day
