All is now set for the inauguration of two new roads and other intervention projects executed by Governor Udom Emmanuel in Oruk Anam local government area.
The roads include 14km Ikot Ikara, Ikot Akpan Essien- Ikot Oto Ibesit road as well as the 4.94km Ibesit Okporoko Ikot Ibritam Road which comes with a 2.8km outfall drain/Erosion Control Project and a bridge.
According to the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Works, Prof Eno Ibanga, the commissioning exercise takes place at 12 noon tomorrow, 29th December 2022.
The commissioning of the roads fulfill the promise Governor Emmanuel had made earlier this year, that he will commission some major roads in Oruk Anam before the end of the year.
Leading some media professionals and journalists in the state on a road assessment tour of the projects in Oruk Anam three weeks ago, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Mr. Essien Ndueso explained that rural development was a cardinal thrust of the Completion Agenda, adding that Oruk Anam like several other local government areas in the state was experiencing massive rural development projects for the first time since creation.
Mr Ndueso explained that Oruk Anam has been a major beneficiary of numerous intervention projects of the Udom Emmanuel led administration and that the Governor has refused to blow his trumpet on the roof top, but has allowed the projects to speak for themselves.
Among projects inspected in Oruk Anam by journalists included the 23.4km Ikot Ekaide – Ikot Okoro – Ikot Ibritam road as well as the 18.95km Ikot Ibritam – lIkot Akpan Afaha Road which are at various stages of construction.
Other projects include the Navy military school at Ikot Ntuen Oku and the nearly completed 4.95km Ekparakwa – Ntak Ibesit Road.
Earlier, a 5.0km road network was commissioned by Governor Emmanuel within the Obio Akpa Campus of the University, while a general hospital was also remodeled, equipped, and commissioned by the present administration at Ikot Okoro.
