Ikpeazu Condemns Attack on DG of Abia PDP Campaign, Demands Full Investigation

 

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has condemned in the strongest terms, the attack on the Director General of the Professor Uche Ikonne Campaign Organization, Rt Hon Barrister Chinedum Elechi in Umuahia yesterday.

The Director General was attacked by an individual who is alleged to be an operative of the Ebonyi State Command of the State Security Services (SSS) with a sharp machete leaving him with multiple machete cuts all over his body.

Governor Ikpeazu salutes the courage of the members of the public and men of the Nigeria Police who helped to overpower the assailant and recovered the instrument of attack.

The Governor hereby demands a thorough investigation into this inexplicable display of murderous barbarism and charges the Commissioner of Police to ensure that the assailant is made to face the full weight of the law.

The Governor assures well meaning Abians of their safety, reiterating the commitment of his administration to ensure that criminals are not given space to operate in Abia State, especially as the political space gets set for serious activities.

Governor Ikpeazu is grateful to God for sparing the life of Rt. Hon Elechi, a former Deputy Speaker of State House of Assembly, former Honorable Commissioner, and wishes him safe recovery.
