We’re With You, Item Community Pledge Allegiance to Sen Kalu | #IgbereTV
Elderly women, men and youths led by the President General of Item Development Association, Chief Ogba Nwokoro have just received Senator Orji Uzor Kalu into their community in continuity of Kalu’s midterm constituency report tour organised by the Abia-North Senator to gie account of his achievements at the Senate.
Kalu , Chief Whip of the Senate, is accompanied by other Federal Government appointees of Abia-North origin they include; Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Film Corporation, Dr Chidia Maduekwe, Public Complaints Commission ( Abia State ) , Dr. Madukwe Ukaegbu.
Itemising their challenges, the community in a speech by Comrade Igwe Kalu a youth leader mentioned that the infrastructural projects in the community were those built by Senator Kalu during his tenure as Governor.
While appreciating Kalu for his human empowerment, Igwe kalu appealed to the Senate Chief Whip to use his influence to construct the AmaOkwe to Okai Road.
In the area of Education Igwe listed Oka-Item community school, Umu-Epka community school and Akanu Item community schools needing refurbishment, the youth leader stressed both students and staff are under harsh conditions due to the dilapidated state of the schools.
Responding, Kalu reminded the community stakeholders that execution of roads, educational, health infrastructure projects remained the constitutional responsibility of the state government. The Senate Chief Whip assured the community that he will deploy his influence to facilitate the construction of those projects as requested by the community. Kalu however, explained to the community that in order to execute the projects the projects needed to pass through a budget process.
Kalu told the gathering that with respect to his tenets of honesty he won’t promise the immediate construction of the roads and schools ,he however assured that roads and the schools will be captured in the forthcoming budget.
At the conclusion of the interaction, the entire stakeholders reaffirmed their resolve to support Kalu’s bid back to the National Assembly.
