It’s wrong to tell Senator Kalu to secure Abians when we have a governor – Lawyer
A legal practitioner, Barrister Victor Etie says it is the duty of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to secure the lives and properties of the people of Abia State.
According to Ntie, Ikpeazu remains the Chief Security of the State, “whose primary duty is to safeguard lives and properties.
In a post on Wednesday morning, Ntie urged Abians to stop blaming Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for the insecurity in the state, noting that other state governors were working hard to protect its citizens.
He said, “Is it not amazing, how you left out the governor, who is the Chief security officer of the state, whose primary duty is to safeguard lives and properties, who collects security votes monthly for the purpose of maintaining security in his state and be calling a lawmaker whose duty is primarily to make laws.
“In Abia State, when OUK was governor, he set up the Abia state Vigilante services and enormously funded them, which tamed the rising insecurity in Aba and other parts of Abia state, OUK also motivated the police by paying daily stipends to policemen on check points in Abia state, as well as paying huge compensation to the families of a deceased security men, this did not only raised the moral of the policemen but motivated them to be more patriotic in the discharge of thier duties.
“We are all aware how governor wike dealt with insecurities in his domain, even visited the camp of the dreaded bunkers and dislodged them
“Recently, the governor of Benue set up a militia group to help curb insecurity in his state and has just written to the president for approval of lethal weapons
“The same with the governor of ondo state who has fortified and armed the Amotekun group and we can see the inroads they have made with the daily arrest of bandits and the recent arrests of the owo perpetrators together with the security agencies
“What is your governor doing?
“Why are you not holdings him responsible to his duties?
“Do you know that the government of Abia state takes a particular percentage from any cow sold at the cattle market, what are they doing with the funds.
“Sometimes I wonder, how we have become this ignorant or is it just outright gullibility.”
