HERE FOR PETER!
This is to announce to you, dear friends, foes and family, that I have accepted to take up an assignment with the Peter Obi Support Network (POSN), the first and most recognizable support group within the very large and quickly expanding Peter Obi Movement, as the Director of Strategic Communication.
I am happy to be joining other patriotic volunteers, who are bringing in their talents, time and personal resources to drive what is fast becoming the most audacious political revolution in Africa, since after the independence struggles.
I join this team, knowing that it is not easily politically fathomable, by present political permutations, for Peter Obi, under a relatively unpopular Labour Party to win the presidency of Nigeria at this time, but I come with a renewed faith, that this isn’t just a political movement, but this is a push towards an ideological shift for my generation and some within the generation of my father’s, who feel moved enough to shift the narrative for better.
I was reluctant to throw my all into the Peter Obi train, hoping against hopes, that the two major Parties would do something to give Nigerians any hope of equity and revival for our nation, but with the conclusion of nomination processes, it is obvious, that if we do not attempt to do something out of the usual, that if we do not risk it all to save Nigeria, we may finally lose this country.
Atiku Abubakar at his 7th attempt at becoming Nigeria’s President would have given us a little sense of belief in his desire for an equitable and fair Nigeria by choosing his running mate from the Southeast, but he chose what he feels is politically convenience over national interest and cohesion. Tinubu, whom, given how badly my Party has damaged our country in the last seven years, shouldn’t have had any moral justification to present himself for the presidency, is worsening matters by ignoring our time tested political culture of national and religious balance by reportedly insisting on going for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
I am not joining the Peter Obi team because of the Igbo or Southeast interest, I am joining for Nigeria’s interest. Peter Obi’s candidacy is not based on zoning or rotation, but it could also benefit from that, if the leaders of this nation choose to do the right thing. But, most importantly, the Peter Obi candidacy is the surebet for any Nigerian, no matter tribe or religion who desires a better future for themselves or their children.
Peter Obi is coming with a track record of performance as governor in Anambra, which is unprecedented. He is coming from the background of a successful businessman and he is coming from the background of a disciplined technocrat, the stuff of which we haven’t seen before.
I cannot make Peter Obi win, but I am believing that with your support and the support of millions of Nigerians who are dissatisfied with the status quo, we can make this history for our generation and the generation of our children.
LET’S PETERRIZE NIGERIA!
