Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has welcomed singer-turned-politician Olubankole Wellington aka Banky W to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Saraki met Banky on Monday and shared to Instagram a photo of himself, the musician and another new figure in the party, Abdul-Azeez Adediran aka Jandor, who joined from the All Progressives Congress.
“It was a pleasure to welcome Banky W to the PDP yesterday alongside Jandor!” the presidential aspirant posted on Tuesday.
Banky W announced on April 1 that he joined the PDP to contest the Eti-Osa federal constituency seat of Lagos at the House of Representatives.
The 41-year-old contested the seat in 2019 on the platform of the Modern Democratic Party (MDP). Babajide Obanikoro of the APC won the election.
In making the announcement, the ‘Made for You’ singer called for support from the general public, saying “we need as many people as possible. We need you. We must engage with Nigeria where it is, not where we prefer for it to be.”
