A member of the National Youth Service Corp, Olusile Joy Omotola who hails from Ogun state has reached out to widows in Ovom Community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State as part of her contribution to improving the welfare of the aged widows in society.
IGBERE TV reports that Olusile undertook Sensitization/Health talk on diabetics and high blood pressure for their age group.
•Free consultation and check up for widows on blood sugar and blood pressure.
•Donation of Wrappers.
•Donation of food stuffs including bags of rice and bags of garri.
According to the Corp Member, Olusile Joy Omotola she described widows as members of the society who do not just suffer the death of their spouses but also suffer mental health illnesses like depression, anxiety, physical health illness high blood pressure, diabetics, stroke etc).
Widowhood according to her is among the most stressful of all life events and requires more psychological and behavioral adjustment than any other life transition.
Also, proper meal, proper health care and good clothing after a critical understudy of the situation of widows in the community she saw the need to quickly reach out to them as they were endangered and this burden birthed the project “NEW YEAR FOR WIDOWS”.
The goal of the project according to Olusile is to empower the widows in the community with some of lives basic amenities, create a health environment for them to support each other through this period of their lives, celebrate their strength and encourage them to keep pushing for the coming years ahead, teach them how to take care of their all-round wellbeing and also conduct high blood pressure and blood sugar test on them to give them personalized recommendation to keep themselves at their best always.
