Police Arrest Man For Paying N2,650 For Toyota Camry Car

The Nigerian Police have arrested a 30-year-man, Ibrahim Abdulazeez, for allegedly purchasing a Toyota Camry Muzzle 2010 model for N2,650 from a car dealer in Osogbo, Osun State, Igbere TV reports.

The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Olawale Olokode, who disclosed this while parading the suspect at the police headquarters in Osogbo on Friday, said Abdulazeez duped the car dealer by paying N2,650 for the car of N2,650,000.

According to him, the dealer had agreed to sell the car at N2.65 million and the suspect did electronic transfer of N2,650 for the dealer and took away the car on November 6, at 3.30 p.m.

Olokode said, “The suspect went to one Kazeem Ogunjobi, a car dealer at Inyas Motors, Ota-Efun Area Osogbo, and negotiated for an unregistered Toyota Camry car without having money in his account. They both agreed on two million six hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N2,650,000).

“The complainant (car dealer) later reported to the police that the suspect collected his partner’s bank account details on the pretext that he would transfer the money into the account.

“But to their surprise, the suspect transferred the sum of N2,650 instead of the agreed price of N2,650,000 and went away with the said car.”

The police boss said immediately the case was reported, police detectives swung into action and that the said car was recovered in a painters workshop in Iwo, Iwo Local Government Area of Osun,.

Olokede said that the painter, one Olayinka Bashiru, was already changing the colour of the car from green to gold, as instructed by the suspect, when the car was recovered.

Asked whether he used spiritual means to achieve his aim, the Abdulazeez said, “I did not use anything. I just woke up on that day in my house in Iwo and took my motorcycle.

“When I got to Osogbo and priced the car, we agreed on N2.6million. I transferred N2,650 to the dealer and he thought he had received N2,650,000.”

On how he carried the motorcycle, Tunde said, “I took the car to Iwo and I went back to take my motorcycle.”

The police commissioner said that Abdulazeez and the painter would be charged to court after the completion of investigation on the case.
