Nureni Jimoh, a member of the legal team of former emir of Kano Lamido Sanusi, was on Wednesday locked up in his office in Kano 24 hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja ruled that Sanusi’s banishment, after being deposed by Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, was unlawful.
Mr Jimoh told PUNCH that he could not leave his office, adding that he had contacted the director of state security.
Jimoh had also recently secured a judgement against Ganduje when he represented Senator Ibrahim Shekarau-led faction which wanted an FCT High Court to nullify the state congress conducted by a faction backed by Ganduje.
A source who did not want name mentioned told the newspaper that events unfolding are the fallout of the court rulings.
The source said, “Nureni Jimoh, who is the lead counsel in the APC case and part of the legal team for Emir Sanusi, has been attacked by Kano State Government.”
An official of the ministry of land told newsmen that “the ministry sealed the building based on the directive from the permanent secretary.”
Kano police spokesman Haruna Kiyawa told the newspaper that interviews conducted with some of the occupants of the office showed that the police were not among those that came to seal off the office.
