EndSARS: There Must Be Justice Before Peace, Seun Kuti Rejects Sanwo-Olu’s Invitation For Walk

Singer Seun Kuti has responded to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s invitation for a peace walk in December, saying he does not need to walk next to the governor before peace can return to Lagos.

Seun, fellow musician Falz, and skit maker Mr Macaroni among others have been vocal with their criticism of the government and security agents since the October 20, 2020 shooting of #EndSARS protesters at Lekki toll gate.

Seun, son of the late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, said on Channels Television’s Politics Today show on Tuesday that the governor must ensure justice is served for victims of police brutality before peace walk.

“I don’t need to walk next to the governor before there is peace in Lagos; there has been peace in Lagos before many years and nobody has to walk anywhere for it,” he said.

“If there is justice, then we can discuss peace. In fact, there will be no need to walk for peace because justice itself is the walk of peace. The governor should walk the walk he is talking about by giving us justice.”

Falz and Mr Macaroni have also rejected the governor’s invite.

Others who were specifically invited are Dele Farotimi, Temitope Majekodunmi, Segun Awosanya aka Segalink, Adedotun aka Just Detoun, commissioner of police Hakeem Odumosu, and commander of Rapid Response Squad, Yinka Egbeyemi.
