Abuja Takes Over Slain OAU Master's Student Case, Lawyer Kicks

The case of the death of a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Osun State, Timothy Adegoke, has been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force’s headquarters in Abuja, a police source has revealed.

Mr Adegoke allegedly died in Hilton Hotels and Resort, Ile-Ife owned by Ramon Adedoyin and was disposed of in a bush.

Mr Adedoyin and six of his workers have been arrested over the incident.

A source in Osun State Police Command told PUNCH on the condition of anonymity on Friday that the Force headquarters had requested the transfer of the case..

The source said, “The Command is not hiding anything. But we have been directed to transfer the matter and after necessary documentation is completed, the suspects will be moved to Abuja.”

But spokesperson for Osun Police Command Yemisi Opalola said she had not been briefed on the matter.

Meanwhile, the Adegoke family lawyer Naim Adekilekun said he was informed of the transfer of the case to Abuja.

“I have been informed. But we don’t want the case transferred. It has to be transferred back,” he said.

Adedoyin’s lawyer Abiodun Williams was indifferent to the development. “We are not bothered. Let the case be taken to anywhere. Chief Adedoyin is 101 per cent innocent. The officers in Abuja cannot do anything better than what Osun State Command had diligently done,” he said.
