Reps C’mittee Summons Fidelity Bank MD Over Alleged Falsified Records, Unremitted Funds

The House of Representatives committee investigating looted funds has summoned the managing director of Fidelity Bank Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe to appear before it on November 30 over alleged falsified records and unremitted funds from the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Onyeali-Ikpe will be questioned over $40 million alleged to have passed through the bank out of $153 million reportedly looted by former petroleum minister Diezani Alison Madueke.

The panel took the resolution when different banks appeared before it to respond to issues arising from the recovered looted funds from NNPC.

Chairman of the committee Adejero Adeogun threatened to issue a warrant of arrest should the MD refuse to appear on the next adjourned date.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had interrogated former MD of Fidelity Bank Nnamdi Okonkwo over funds recovered from Diezani.

It was not immediately clear if Mr Okonkwo would be invited to appear alongside the new MD.
