IGP Orders Immediate Probe Of Invasion Of Abuja Residence Of Justice Odili

Inspector general of police Usman Baba has ordered investigation into the search conducted at the Abuja residence of Justice Mary Odili on October 29.

Reports said some security operatives had brandished a search warrant allegedly granted by a magistrate court for the operation.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission denied involvement in the matter. Attorney general of the federation Abubakar Malami also said he had no hand in it.

The police boss, in a statement by Force PRO Frank Mba on Monday, also said the “leadership of the Force is not aware and did not at any time order Police operatives to carry out such assignment.”

He described the violation of the sanctity of the residence of the Supreme Court judge as “unfortunate and unacceptable.”

“He (the IGP) further called for calm, promising that the Force will do all within its powers to unravel the perpetrators and motives behind the breach with a view to bringing all indicted persons to book.

“Meanwhile, the IGP has directed the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory to strengthen security around the street and residence of Her Lordship, Justice Mary Odili JSC to ensure her safety and also to prevent a reoccurrence of the unfortunate incident,” the statement read.

The IGP promised to make details of the investigation public.
