Deposed Ologbotsere plans suit to remove Olu of Warri

Derobed Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom in Delta State, Chief Ayiri Emami, has faulted his deposition as the Itsekiri traditional prime minister by the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse lll, saying the monarch has no power to take such action, IgbereTV reports.

Ayiri Emami, while speaking with a local online media, Niger Delta Today, after the Olu’s proclamation, hinted that he was already consulting his lawyers to file a motion stopping the monarch from parading himself as the Olu of Warri.

According to him, he (Emami) does not recognise him as such.

Emami also disclosed that the Ologbotsere family had agreed to meet this Thursday “to review and take a position on the latest development”.

“He (Olu of Warri) invited the Ologbotsere family for meeting and my people honoured him where he made the pronouncement.  He did not hear from his guests (Ologbotsere family).

“The family has agreed to meet on Thursday to review and take a position on this latest development. The meeting will hold in Warri,” Emami remarked.

The spokesman for the Ologbotsere Descendants Worldwide, Alex Eyengho, when contacted, said that “the family will surely meet in Warri on Thursday and the outcome of the meeting will be made public thereafter”.

Recall that the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, had on Tuesday officially proclaimed the derobing of Ayiri as Ologbotsere at a meeting with leaders and members of Ologbotsere Descendants held at the royal palace in Warri, thus ending Ayiri’s four-year reign as Ologbotsere, the Warri traditional prime minister.
