Igbo Ministers Forum has asked the Federal Government to ensure that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is given fair trial.

Briefing Journalists after its one day prayer retreat in Owerri, Imo state, over the weekend, the clerics said that the fate of Kanu shouldn’t be determined by the Department of Security Service but the court.

The National President of the group, Bishop Moses Obasi, said that the laws of the country should be applied meticulously in Kanu’s trial in court.

The prelate said that it was high time the FG addressed the activities of Fulani herdsmen in all parts of the country.

He said ” the court and not the DSS should determine Nnamdi Kanu’s fate. All we are asking for is fair trial for him. There are laws governing this country and it should be applied in his matter.

“IMF stands for justice and equity and we believe that it is right for the Igbo to produce the next president of Nigeria. The federal government should review the activities of Fulani herdsmen not just in Igbo land but in all parts of the country. Marginalisation of the south East region is fueling the agitation and we believe that once it is addressed, the tension will lessen.

“The igbo are not desperate for power. If you recall history, you will understand that the Igbo do not vote because of tribe or religion. The Igbo believe in capacity in leadership and that is why we believe that one day we will have the opportunity to rule this nation. IMF is interested in justice and equity.”

The Imo state coordinator of IMF, Chinedu Nnadi, asked the federal government to speedily address rising insecurity in the country.
