JAMB Exams for Visually Impaired Concludes Successfully in Benin

A two-day examination for the visually-impaired, seeking University admissions through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, 2021, has concluded succsessfully at the University of Benin which served as the Centre for Candidates in Benin City and neighbouring towns and states, including Delta State.

This was disclosed by Public Relations Officer of the University of Benin, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire, in a statement issued on Thursday, in Benin City, the Edo state capital and made available to journalists.

The Equal Opportunity Examination, introduced by the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, was co-ordinated in the Benin City Centre by the former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB, Professor Oluwafemi Balogun who commended JAMB for the initiative which is expected to help physically disadvantaged persons actualise the quest for higher education.

Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin and Host, Professor Lilian Salami, in her goodwill message, said Management of the University was pleased to play its role in complementing the committment of JAMB to the progress of physically challenged Nigerian children.

Subjects for which candidates in the UNIBEN centre were examined were Use of English, Literature in English, Government, and Christian Religious Knowledge. The candidates were accommodated for the duration of the examination and also provided braille materials, laptop computers and typewriters based on need and preference.
