UFC Champion Kamaru Usman Visits Diaspora Office In Abuja

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman on Friday met the chairman and chief executive officer of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Nicknamed ‘Nigerian Nightmare’, the martial arts fighter is in Nigeria to initiate a community activation plan for the people of Edo State.

Mrs Dabiri-Erewa, who regularly emphasises the need for Nigerians in diaspora to maintain good reputation, described Usman in a post to Instagram as a true “diaspora champion”.

“I received the UFC Welterweight Champion, Kamaru Usman a.k.a “The Nigerian Nightmare” at my office. Truly, a Diaspora Champion,” she wrote.

Usman met Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello on his arrival in Nigeria on Thursday.

The Nigeria-born fighter is expected to visit Lagos where he would be the guest of the media on Sunday.

Usman is on a 19-fight winning streak, the longest ever in the welterweight division. He had not been to Nigeria since he migrated to the United States with his family as an eight-year-old.

From Lagos, he will head to Edo, his home state, for his project.
