Win Your Children Over With Love - Prof. Ibe Charged Parents

Parents have been urged to consolidate on the opportunity the lock down occassioned by covid -19 padamic provided in 2020, to increase their interaction with their children.

Chancellor / Founder of Gregory University Uturu, Professor Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe, made the appeal at the 2021 Children’s Day celebration in Nigeria. He maintained that increased parent children relationship and interaction will go a long way to check some of the vices bedevilling the nation today.

Quoting the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, “the only way to reform them (children) is to win them over with love”. Professor Ibe, therefore, called on parents to “increase interaction with our dear children this will achieve more bonding in the process, while at the same time we should recommit ourselves to the task of inculcating spiritual values in our young ones, inspired by the biblical injunction that says train up a child in the way he should go,when he grows up, he will not depart from it”. He stressed.

The Professor of entrepreneur studies, while acknowledging that there is much to be done for children said that, “children also shun peer pressure, bad associations and all youthful exuberant behaviour that are inimical to both their personal growth and societal development”. He charged.

Professor Gregory Ibe,conveyed these in his solidarity message to Nigerian children as they celebrate the year 2021 edition of the annual May 27th Children’s day event. He believes that with closer family bonding the current security situation in country would not have been.

Gregory Ibe, called on parents, government at all levels, politicians and corporate organizations to consciously ensure children’s right to life, education, good food, shelter, protect them against violence of all kinds, from discrimination and above all give them listening ears. “if we can adhare to these, our country and indeed the world will be a better place for us all to leave in”, he said.
